Gumnut Awards
What are the Gumnut Awards?
The Gumnut Award recognises holiday, tourist and caravan parks who are leading the way in environmental best practice. The award program is aimed at caravan parks adopting environmental initiatives across ten categories and implementing goals that benefit and protect the natural beauty of the region for many years to come.
The Gumnut Awards program focus on issues such as:
- Energy saving
- Water conservation
- Waste management
- Conserving the natural environment
- Leading by example
- Being good corporate citizens and neighbours
Congratulations to the following caravan parks on Crown Land which won Gumnut Awards at the NSW Caravan and Camping Super Show 2008.
Gold Gumnut Award Winners (awarded for 1 year)
The Gold Gumnut Award is the highest of achievements that shows best practice in environmental sustainability. Dept of Lands congratulates the parks shown below for their commitment and dedication to our most precious resource, the environment. These parks lead the way progressive work for our environment.

Silver Gumnut Award Winners (awarded for 1 year)
By achieving a Silver Gumnut Award, the following Caravan parks have committed to developing an integrated Environmental Management Plan (EMP) that incorporates environmental, social and economic criteria. The objective of an EMP is to provide information to the business on its past and present environmental performance and to identify future opportunities for improvements.

The Gumnut Awards reflect the uniqueness of the Australian environment and culture.
The program consists of 10 categories in which to achieve best practice.

- Solid waste – reduction and recycling

- Biodiversity conservation
