Fishing at Forster: Retail outlets in Forster can supply you bait. The Red Spot boat shed near Forster Dive Centre provides bait, mullet, worms, prawns and squid. The Forster Visitor Centre can provide tourist maps, tide charts and fishing guides, and information regarding local attractions, eco tours, walking tours, accommodation, activities as well as cruises relating to deep sea fishing, dolphin watching etc. The Forster Visitor centre is located in Little Street, Forster, adjacent to the lake. Annual Forster Fishing Carnival
The Forster Fishing Carnival is a community event to attract people into the towns of Forster Tuncurry. The Forster Fishing Carnival is a week long event incorporating 10 competitions throughout the week. Game, Beach, Rock, Estuary, ABT Bream Event, Flathead Megabucks Event, Light Tackle Event, Soft Plastic Snapper Event , Juniors Only Day as well as secret weight and species events. It encourages family involvement with junior competitions and primary schools being involved in an educational role of our marine environment.
All of the profits raised will be distributed to The Glen McGrath Foundation, Ronald McDonald Family Retreat Forster, Forster Tuncurry Coastal Patrol and Forster Surf Club and Great Lake’s Primary Schools. High profile celebrities have committed and will be involved in prize giving and tuition. Personalities at the 2009 event included Andrew Ettinghausen (Escape with ET), Michael Guest (Rally Driver and journalist for Fishing World), Steve Starling (Fishing journalist and commentator), Adam Royter (AFC Commentator), Scott Towner (Australian Fishing Champion), Darren Borg (Australian Fishing Championship Bream specialist), representative of The McGrath Foundation.
